This week I was working on finishing the main geometry for the car before moving to details. I finished most of the main geometry but I feel that because I did not work on one single piece it'll be harder for me to separate the geometry to look as if it is paneled. The most difficult piece I have so far is the grill of the car which needs tome refinement, as well as the headlights, however the grill currently is filled with ngons and poor geometry so I will be working on ways to fix it as well as maybe even using the quad draw tool.
I feel that I will have to do a good amount of work this week, however I am confident in my ability to finish the model. The trunk was also one of my more difficult pieces because of how its shape is formed, however I was able to figure out how to do it relatively quickly.

For this week I continued to progress on the geometry, my progress is a bit different than how the videos describe, I am modeling in pieces rather than doing one consistent mesh for the car. I started on the hood and front of the car for this week, with getting a general shape of the main body. I do still need to add more detail to fit the form, as well as separating the model into multiple pieces.
The curves on the car haven't been too much of an issue, I believe the main problems that I am going to encounter are separating the pieces that are in one consistent mesh as well as making the grill.

This week we chose our vehicles and began to create the car using the CV curves as guidelines to then snap to our geometry. My vehicle that I chose was the 1975 Ford Bronco, which has a shape that I found very fun to create the guidelines off of. I found countless pictures of the car to use as reference, and found a good orthographic layout of the car as well as someone else's model of the Bronco. My process mainly started with modeling most of the side before starting on the front or back of the car because I believed that It would give the most form to reference the other curves off of to help in case the orthographic view was blocked on certain parts. The hardest parts that I found with the Bronco were the front and back bumper as well as figuring out how to do the lines on the trunk because of its unique shape.

For the lego assignment we have been modeling lego pieces to fit together perfectly into a full lego car. The pieces I have modeled so far are to the exact specifications of the lego pieces we have in real life. I haven't gotten to the more complex pieces yet but I am well on my way to getting to them. The pieces so far aren't too complicated but I can tell soon that they will be much more time consuming to make.
The bottoms of the legos seem to be where most of the complexity has been so far, I am excited to see where the project goes and to experience the difficulty.

For this week we worked on the pen and tablet assignment, we were learning to separate out the pieces of the model for making different components as well as learning how to use edge loops better and to our advantage. This was also my first time using Marmoset as a rendering tool for a 3d model.
Modeling the tablet and pen was not as easy as it seemed. I ran into a few issues with different areas not having the faces needed to make loops which cost me a lot of time fixing. However, eventually I was able to figure out the issues that I had and the process in how to fix them. The multi cut tool was also used very often, as well as changing the direction of edge loops to help make the model more high quality.
The pen had less issues than the tablet for me, I had a few instances of non-manifold geometry that I spent some time fixing as well as dealing with the many faces and extrudes to make the power button in the divot at the top of the tablet. Making sure that edge loops lined up was very crucial for this assignment, I had a few times where they didn't line up and the model did not look correct because of that. Overall this assignment was super fun and very informative just how difficult modeling can be when it comes to high quality models and renders.
